Leaving Cross street we face one of the two pubs in the village: The Elm Tree. A popular pub, it hosts an annual bonfire night and has active darts, pool and domino teams. There is also a sea fishing club that has regular competitions throughout the year.
On the opposite corner is 31 High Street, juxtaposed to a pretty, but totally out of character textured cottage.
A little further on 28 and 30 High Street are listed as important, but not as striking as number 18 below.
At the top end of the street is the former Methodist chapel.
At the bottom end of The High Street is the Second Public house in the village, the George & Dragon. The Pub was built in the late 17th early 18 centuries and remodelled in the 19th Century. It still has plenty of character and has always played a central role in village life. |
