Yorkshire is renowned for its
Stately Homes and historic buildings. In conjunction with 4 of these close to
the hotel we offer a two day package that includes visits to Burton Constable,
Burton Agnes, Sledmere House and Sewerby Hall. Along the way we also find time
for a glimpse of Beverly Minster & the cliffs at Flamborough.
The cost of the two day package
including entrance to the buildings and 3 nights half board is £250 per couple.

Day One
Sledmere House

The
tour begins with a morning visit to Sledmere House. The house is the home of Sir
Tatton Sykes, 8th Baronet. There has been a Manor House at Sledmere since
medieval times.
The present house was begun in 1751 by Richard Sykes and extended in the 1790's
by Sir Christopher Sykes 2nd Baronet. The journey takes 1 hour and is 32 miles
from the Hotel.

Beverly Minster

On our way back we pass Beverley
Minster, chance to stop off and view this grand building. Journey time 40
minutes, 30 miles
Burton Constable
Hall

Located just ten minutes from the
Hotel, Burton Constable is a large Elizabethan Mansion set in 300 acres of
grounds and has 30 rooms open to the public. A relaxing lunch, tour of the house
and gardens and then back to the Hotel to unwind before the evening meal.
The gardens were landscaped by
capability brown and often play host to events. Journey time 35 minutes, 18
miles, 15 mins & 6 miles back to the Hotel.

Burton Agnes

Burton Agnes, like Sledmere House,
nestles comfortably in the Wolds. It is filled with marvellous and significant
works of art, furniture and other antiquities. Apart from an extremely
interesting internal tour the gardens offer much for the plant lover and are
also great for kids. The is a maze and plenty of outdoor games.

Burton Agnes is near to Cruckley

an alternative day out could include a visit to this charming working farm that
has many rare breeds. Journey time 50 minutes & 24 miles
Bempton Cliffs

Bempton cliffs is an RSPB nature
reserve and plays host to a cacophony of seabirds. Notably Gannets, Puffins,
Kittiwakes & Guillemots. The cliffs are on the north side of Flamborough head.
At other locations access to the shoreline is possible and there are plenty of
cafes for a quick cup of tea. Journey time 25 minutes, 11 miles

Sewerby Hall

Sewerby
Hall is situated 2 miles north of the seaside resort of Bridlington, on the East
Yorkshire coast. The grade I listed country house is set in 50 acres of
landscaped gardens in a cliff top location on the outskirts of Sewerby village.
The house was built 1714-1720 by John Greame. Bow wings and a
portico were added in 1808-1811. Later additions include an Orangery and dining
room.
There is a lot to see and do at Sewerby: a museum dedicated to
Amy Johnson; a small zoo; woodland and garden walks; putting and golf; and lots
of things for kids big & small. Journey time 15 minutes, 12 miles and
50 minutes , 25 miles back to the Hotel.
